Digg Shutdown!!!
Wednesday 2 May 2007 - Filed under social media
Damn! I never knew it could get this bad. Apparently, Digg’s attempt to censor a popular story on the so-called “forbidden numbers” used to break HD-DVD caused a massive backlash against Digg and now every single frontpage story on Digg is about that very topic. Amazing!
I love democracy in action. Spread the key!

As I write (7:40 am UK time) Digg has shutdown it’s popular stories pages entirely – the upcoming stories pages are still working, but not a single story to be seen on the popular stories page.
I do recall seeing one of the “Digg banned my DRM story” Digg’s yesterday – it got about 10 votes in two or three minutes, including mine, before it mysteriously vanished from the system entirely.

This was an amazing run but unfortunately not a damn thing’s changed.
