A Mother’s Journey

Monday 7 May 2007 - Filed under blog

I honestly can’t remember the last time I was moved to write or say something from seeing a series of photos. We live in a world saturated in images that are manufactured to a greater or lesser extent. The way media manipulates real events gives us a jaded outlook on life and the images we consume.

Still, every now and then there are moments when you’re overwhelmed by the power that an image holds. This photo series documenting a single mother and her son’s fight with cancer was one of those moments for me.

Can you imagine what it’s like to bring a child into the world only to be robbed by horrible disease. I can’t but this photo series is sure to make you think just in time for Mother’s day.

Indeed, a very moving photo series. It makes you think about and cherish the things you have.

These simply brilliant photos make the moms out there the heroes of my world. My hat goes off to the photographer for these amazing shots, as well as for the concept behind the pictures.

    Wonderful Stuff!

Being a mother of four, that’s just heart wrenching. I agree it’s very moving – I watched with teary eyes all the way through.

I think one of the greatest pains in this world would be to lose a child, but to have to watch your child suffer so – I don’t think I could bear it.

    Thanks for sharing this.

After looking at this and leaving it for a while I can’t look at it again. It’s that raw. Every scene of it. I’m glad that many of you have actually checked it out because I really think it’s worth a look even if it’s heart wrenching.
